Iraqi Air Base Housing U.S. Troops Attacked by Rockets
Four rockets were fired toward the Ain al-Asad airbase in western Iraq, where American military personnel have been stationed, according to Reuters. Sources from the agency reported that two rockets struck inside the base, while two others landed along its perimeter. Information regarding possible material damage and the identity of those responsible for the attack has not been disclosed.
An American official confirmed the strike to Al Arabiya News, adding that there have been no reports of casualties or destruction. The exact number of rockets aimed at the airbase was not specified.
Earlier, on April 22, the Ain al-Asad airbase was targeted by a drone launched from a neighboring area. It was noted that forces of the international coalition, including U.S. troops, are stationed at the airbase. Attacks on American military bases in the Middle East have increased amid the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, in which the United States has supported Israel.
