Investigation Launched Immediately: Human Rights Defender on Incident at Preschool in Vedi

On July 26, a video was posted online showing a preschool staff member physically assaulting a child. Following this event, an investigation has been initiated by the Human Rights Defender's office.

The office of the Human Rights Defender has promptly contacted representatives of the competent authorities to take necessary steps regarding the incident. Protecting the best interests of the child and safeguarding their rights are among the top priorities of the Human Rights Defender.

The Defender emphasizes that the state has an obligation to take necessary and adequate measures to ensure the protection of children from violence. In light of the child’s best interests, the Defender urges the public not to share the video circulating on social media, thereby avoiding the disclosure of any personal data that could identify the child.
