How Many Reports Were Compiled by the Police Patrol Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 25 Days
The Police Patrol Service of the Republic of Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has compiled approximately 515,430 reports regarding traffic violations during the period from January 1 to 25, 2024. This is reported by the newspaper 'Haykakan Zhamanak'.
Among the compiled reports, a significant portion — 89,921 — was drawn up for driving without a seatbelt, while 44,320 reports were made for exceeding speed limits. Additionally, 10,408 were for driving under the influence, and 14,869 for talking on the phone while driving.
During the same period, the Patrol Service issued 13,066 reports for using tobacco while driving, and another 15,352 for driving with tinted windows. Furthermore, 22,328 reports were compiled for malfunctioning vehicle lights, 11,275 for parking in the second lane, and 1,054 for parking on the sidewalk.
The Patrol Service also issued 17,595 reports for crossing in areas not designated for pedestrians, along with 274,846 reports for other violations.
The newspaper 'Haykakan Zhamanak' has repeatedly published that patrol officers are strategically waiting for 'victim' drivers to catch them and issue fines. In brief, citizens are seen as 'fine material', while members of the ruling party and officials remain untouchable. Many of their vehicles, such as those of Andranik Kocharyan and other parliamentarians, have operational license plates that patrol officers do not stop.
