Arrest Made in Murder of 35-Year-Old Resident of Nor Hachn

The investigation into the murder that occurred on May 1, 2024, at the "Avangard" hotel complex on Acharyan Street in Yerevan is ongoing at the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia in the Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts.

It was previously reported that on the evening of May 1, 2024, Gevorg Nazaryan, a 35-year-old resident of Nor Hachn in Kotayk Province, was transported to the Surb Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center with a stab wound on the left side of his chest. He was unconscious and died hours later without regaining consciousness.

During the preliminary investigation launched in connection with the criminal proceedings, investigative and procedural actions were carried out, revealing that the fatal injury to Nazaryan was inflicted by K.M., a resident of Nor Hachn and an acquaintance of the victim.

The investigation revealed that on the evening of May 1, 2024, while driving to Abovyan city in a vehicle owned by his friend A.H., K.M. had a phone conversation with Nazaryan. Due to expressions made by Nazaryan during this conversation, K.M., along with A.H. and another individual in the vehicle, went to the "Avangard" hotel complex in Yerevan for clarifications.

K.M. and A.H. went to the hotel and called out for Nazaryan. The discussion between Nazaryan and K.M. escalated into a confrontation, during which K.M., with intent to kill, attacked Nazaryan with a sharp cutting and piercing tool, striking him in the left side of the chest and inflicting a life-threatening injury.

Subsequently, A.H. assisted K.M. in evading detection by transporting him to a different location in the vehicle he was operating.

Based on the gathered evidence, the prosecuting body submitted requests to the supervising prosecutor to initiate public criminal proceedings against K.M. under part 1 of Article 155 of the RA Criminal Code (murder) and against A.H. under part 1 of Article 474 of the RA Criminal Code (aiding a person who has committed an offense), which were accepted.

The police were instructed to locate the individuals in question and present them to the prosecuting body. On May 2, 2024, A.H. was arrested.

On May 8, 2024, the prosecuting body submitted a petition to the court requesting that detention be selected as a preventive measure for K.M., which was granted, leading to K.M. being placed on the wanted list.

As a result of the measures taken, K.M. was found on July 23, 2024, at 06:46 in the city of Agarak in the Syunik province, detained, presented to the prosecuting authority, and charged. A petition was submitted to the court to confirm the detention as a preventive measure, which was granted by the court, resulting in K.M. being arrested.

The investigation is ongoing.
