VIDEO: Are You Not Planning to Break This Vicious Cycle? Auroranews Journalist's Question to Avinyan
The press conference of the Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, has begun. An Auroranews journalist posed a question to the Mayor of Yerevan.
Yerevan should be a comfortable and safe city for its residents. This is a statement made by Mr. Avinyan in a post accompanying a video on your Facebook page.
It has turned out that for more than 30 years, various mayors have changed, and promises have been made, yet the situation in Yerevan has not improved. The roads are always filled with potholes and low-quality asphalt. Although road markings are applied, the paint does not differ from watercolor and disappears after the first rain. Trees are being cut down. Green spaces are not increasing. There are no public restrooms, and there is uncontrolled construction in various places, resulting in dust and dirt. As the current mayor, do you feel that mayors succeed one another, but those responsible for the aforementioned works remain the same, doing what suits them? Are you not planning to break this vicious cycle?
Avinyan responded, “I do not agree with most of your raised evaluations. For instance, we say that road markings are being done; however, they are of poor quality. Let’s understand the logic of what is being done: in the streets where the municipality is conducting irrigation works, we are making new thermoplastic quality markings, because that incurs additional costs.”
