Tension Will Rise: Iran Responds to Israeli Strikes on Yemen
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani condemned the Israeli airstrikes on Yemen's Hodeidah port and stated that Israel and its ally, the United States, bear direct responsibility for the dangerous and unpredictable consequences of crimes in Gaza and for attacks on Yemen.
On Saturday evening, the Israel Defense Forces announced that its air force had struck Ansar Allah (Houthi) military targets near the western Yemeni port city of Hodeidah in response to hundreds of attacks on Israel in recent months. Prime Minister Netanyahu remarked that the action was a direct response to a drone attack carried out by the Houthis, which occurred on Friday, striking a residential building near the U.S. consulate in central Tel Aviv. As a result of the attack, one person was killed, and at least eight were injured.
Kanani condemned the Israeli air attacks on Yemen's Hodeidah port, warning of the rising tensions in the Middle East region and the risk of the spread of military operations that could arise from Israel's 'adventurous' actions. He also cited the ongoing blockade of Gaza and the killing of its inhabitants as the main cause of tensions in the region.
