Airlines Worldwide Suspend Flights Due to Technical Issues
Airlines, television and radio broadcasters, and banks in various countries have reported operational issues due to a failure affecting Windows devices. This has been reported by BBC News and The Guardian.
Problems have been recorded in the United States, the United Kingdom, India, New Zealand, and Australia. Major U.S. airlines, including Delta, United, and American Airlines, have halted flights due to connectivity issues, according to CNN.
Berlin's airport announced that flight check-ins would be delayed due to 'technical issues.' Melbourne Airport warned passengers about a 'global technology issue affecting the check-in process of certain airlines' and advised passengers to 'allow a little extra time for check-in.'
The Ryanair airline warned passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure. 'We are currently experiencing network issues due to a global failure of third-party IT systems that are beyond our control. We advise all passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before the scheduled departure time,' the statement said.
The British Sky News channel went off-air due to technical issues. Earlier, the company reported that it had been unable to conduct the morning broadcast.
According to CNN, the cancellations and delays of flights are attributed to a malfunction of the Microsoft Azure cloud storage platform. Microsoft has stated that services are gradually stabilizing following the massive disruption.
