VIDEO: Two Trams Collide, Leaving One Dead and Several Injured in Russia
A collision occurred in the town of Zlatoust, Chelyabinsk region, Russia, involving two trams, resulting in the death of a woman.
The accident took place today around noon at a public transport stop near house number 1 on Gagarin Street. Following the collision, one of the trams continued moving and hit a woman approximately 60 years old. The injuries she sustained were incompatible with life, and she died in the hospital.
In addition, the tram driver and six passengers were injured in the incident. They have all been hospitalized. The police are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident. The prosecutor's office is also conducting an investigation to determine if passenger transport regulations were adhered to.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the provision of services that did not meet safety requirements following the tram collision in Zlatoust, Chelyabinsk region. Investigators and forensic experts are working at the scene, carrying out a series of preliminary investigative actions to ascertain the causes of the incident.
According to initial reports, the collision occurred while a faulty tram was being moved to the depot. The towing device broke down, causing the tram to collide with another tram traveling in the same direction.
Chelyabinsk region governor Alexey Texler has ordered the creation of a regional commission to investigate the causes of the accident. All necessary assistance will be provided to the injured and their families.
