Attempted Murder of 3 Senior Military Officers Prevented by FSB of Russia

The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia has announced the prevention of a terrorist attack aimed at three high-ranking officials of the Russian Ministry of Defense. A Russian citizen has been arrested in Moscow in connection with this case. According to intelligence data, he acted under the guidance of the Ukrainian military intelligence, reports kommersant.ru.

Following his arrest, the man confessed that he was recruited in May 2024 by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to an FSB public relations statement, “The arrested individual, born in 1994, organized the delivery of three powerful explosive devices concealed within gift packaging through courier services, following directives from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.”

The concealed bombs were intended to be sent to the addresses of the heads of departments within the Ministry of Defense. The detainee had planned to detonate the bombs after the couriers confirmed the delivery.

The Investigative Committee of Russia has initiated a case against the man on charges of attempted terrorism and the illegal circulation of explosive materials and devices. Organizers and accomplices, including foreign citizens, are currently wanted.
