Pompidou Center in Paris Closed Due to Staff Strike
The Pompidou Center for Culture and Arts in Paris has been closed due to a staff strike, with employees demanding bonuses for working during events associated with the Olympic Games.
“Due to public movement, the Pompidou Center and the library are closed,” the announcement stated. The strike initiative belongs to the trade union "Force Ouvrière." Employees believe that events related to the Paris Olympic Games will lead to additional burdens.
“The Olympic torch will pass through the square on July 14, and we are one of the establishments that will not be closed during the Olympic Games, so there may be a flow of people,” stated union representative Philippe Mahun.
The government released decrees on June 23, allowing additional bonuses of up to 1500 euros to be paid to several categories of public servants involved in the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, while the Paralympic Games will be held from August 28 to September 8.
