New Heads Appointed for Foreign and Defense Ministries in the UK

The new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, has appointed David Lammy and Jon Healey as heads of the Foreign Office and the Ministry of Defense, respectively. This was announced by the Prime Minister's office.

“The King has approved the following appointments: the honorable Member of Parliament, David Lammy, as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and the noble Member of Parliament, Jon Healey, as Secretary of State for Defense,” the statement reads. It is also noted that the head of the Home Office has become Labour's Yvette Cooper.

Following the parliamentary elections, Labour leader Keir Starmer officially became the 58th Prime Minister of the UK after a meeting with King Charles III on July 4. The King had tasked him with forming a government.

It is worth mentioning that the British parliamentary elections took place on July 3, with the Labour Party winning 412 parliamentary mandates and securing an absolute majority in the House of Commons.
