Bulgaria Plans to Propose Mediation between Russia and Ukraine
During the NATO summit in Washington, Bulgaria intends to propose mediation for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, with Hungary set to take on the role of mediator, stated Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, as reported by Bulgaria's national radio.
“I really think about making a proposal for negotiations in which Bulgaria would become a mediator,” he said. “I will make an offer, and that is good, but then we must obtain agreement to become such a mediator.”
“The only thing to emphasize is that these negotiations must comply with the UN Charter and international law,” Glavchev noted.
Earlier this July, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán visited Kyiv and Moscow. He proposed a ceasefire to the Ukrainian side to organize talks. In Moscow, he stated that he would continue efforts aimed at peaceful resolution.
