Noragyugh District Expected to Become New Center of Yerevan: Avinyan

The Noragyugh district is expected to become the new center of Yerevan. This was stated by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan during a working meeting of the city hall, presenting the Noragyugh project, which is considered a "flagship urban development project for Yerevan."

In this context, the mayor emphasized the full protection of the rights of the residents of Noragyugh throughout this process. For example, there are old homes in the area that are adobe, and residents need solutions regarding housing and living conditions.

"By utilizing this project, I am confident we will have the opportunity to address all the issues of the entire Noragyugh district," he said.

Another issue is the road problem. According to Avinyan, this project will ensure the connection of Monte Melkonian Street with Arshakunyats Avenue, meaning the junction of Isakov and Arshakunyats avenues, which will significantly reduce the traffic volume in that section.

According to the mayor, these urban solutions will also relieve the small center of Yerevan, as businesses and local government entities are expected to relocate to the new district.

Given the project's extensive nature and the large resources required, the participation of developers and construction sectors will be necessary for its implementation.

"We need to search for and find international partners, international development companies that have experience in implementing similar-scale projects, and initial discussions are ongoing," he noted.

Avinyan expressed satisfaction that the master plan is already in place, prepared by a renowned architectural company. "It is also important that we do not allow any deviation from the master plan, meaning that we should maintain the entire logic as it was initially designed," he added.
