Samvel Shahramanyan and Sargis Galstyan Face Each Other
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that a confrontation took place recently between Sargis Galstyan, accused of espionage in favor of Azerbaijan, and Arayik Harutyunyan, the President of Artsakh, who is in the position of a witness.
According to our information, Shahramanyan's testimonies do not confirm the charges. During his presidency, Shahramanyan appointed Galstyan as his deputy chief of staff. On September 19, the entire Armenian population of Artsakh moved to Armenia, with only a few individuals, including Sargis Galstyan and his wife, remaining behind. They had relocated to Armenia approximately three months ago.
After the depopulation of Artsakh, rumors circulated that Galstyan had been appointed as the emergency manager of Artsakh and was collaborating with Azerbaijanis. On March 29, the couple was transferred to Armenia under the escort of the International Committee of the Red Cross. Upon arrival, law enforcement arrested them, but his wife was released while Galstyan was charged with espionage for the benefit of Azerbaijan.
Custodial measures have been chosen for Sargis Galstyan; however, he denies the charges. Although he had previously given a self-incriminating confession regarding espionage for Azerbaijan, he later retracted his statement, claiming he had made it under duress. For the past two months, his family has been allowed to visit Galstyan, who is currently in custody.
