Rising Tensions in the Middle East Are Dangerous: Lavrov and Bagheri Speak on the Phone

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has had a telephone conversation with Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

During the call, both parties expressed serious concern over the dangerous escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

"The parties expressed serious concern about the dangerous increase of tensions in the region, which has arisen from the unresolved nature of numerous crises, primarily in the Palestine-Israel conflict zone," the statement indicated.

It was emphasized that resolving existing issues through political and diplomatic means should be a priority, with the support of constructively inclined international actors.

They agreed to closely cooperate in the interest of consistently addressing practical issues on the bilateral agenda.
