Is There a Measles Outbreak at the National Center for Pulmonology?
There is a measles outbreak at the National Center for Pulmonology. The management is keeping this information confidential. The virus transmitters are healthcare workers M.L. and M.D., with M.L. in serious condition and currently in the intensive care unit of the National Center for Pulmonology, posing a risk to lung patients.
The newspaper Hraparak contacted the acting director of the Pulmonology Center, Vahe Koryun Hakobyan. He did not deny the information regarding measles. “I am not going to the hospital; I am on a business trip. I am not the director of the hospital; I am the acting director, but of course, I am aware of what is happening. There is no outbreak; two people are sick – one doctor and one nurse. Please clarify the details with the Ministry’s press service,” he said.
Auroranews reached out to the Ministry of Health. In our conversation, they stated, “There is no measles outbreak at the National Center for Pulmonology. Two employees have been infected with measles and are receiving appropriate treatment; unfortunately, they were not vaccinated. Healthcare workers, as those who come into daily contact with patients, must exhibit more responsible behavior, get vaccinated, and not endanger either their own or the patients' health. The Ministry of Health is closely monitoring the provision of immunoprophylactic measures, especially among healthcare workers.”
We also learned from the health department that the condition of those infected is good, and they have already been discharged from the hospital.
