Gallant Threatens: Israel Could Return Lebanon to the Stone Age
Israel has stated that it does not wish for war in Lebanon, but it could return its neighbor to the 'stone age.' Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant informed reporters in Washington, as reported by aljazeera.com.
“We do not want war, but we are prepared for any scenario. Hezbollah understands very well that we can cause enormous damage to Lebanon if war breaks out. Israel could return Lebanon to the stone age, but we do not want to do that,” Gallant said.
It is noteworthy that almost daily gunfire exchanges occur between Israeli forces and the Lebanese Hezbollah group along the border since the outbreak of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on October 7 in the Gaza Strip. Fears of a new war have grown this month as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel is preparing for a 'very tense operation' along the Lebanese border.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has threatened war 'without restraint, without rules and boundaries' in the event of a major Israeli assault on Lebanon.
