Former Governor of Lori Appointed as Advisor to Pashinyan

Aram Khachatryan, the former governor of Lori, who was appointed as an advisor to the Prime Minister yesterday, denies that he was dismissed due to shortcomings reported in school gymnasiums.

“Have you heard from anyone that I was relieved of my duties for that reason? I submitted my resignation. It was a coincidence,” Khachatryan said, noting that he had personal reasons for submitting his resignation.

When asked what advice he would give to Nikol Pashinyan, Khachatryan replied, “It will become apparent over time; there are no specific areas yet. I am a military person and have been a governor before.”

Journalists inquired whether he might advise the Prime Minister on regaining lost territories, to which the newly appointed advisor responded, “The territory of the Republic of Armenia is 29,743 square kilometers; it is not even on the agenda. The issue should be resolved through diplomatic means. We should not deviate from the agenda of the peace treaty.”
