Reasons for Flights Failing to Land at Zvartnots Airport at Night Revealed

The failure of flights to land on time at Zvartnots International Airport yesterday was attributed to adverse weather conditions. Lusine Ghukasyan, the press secretary of Zvartnots Airport, stated this in an interview with Tert.am.

When asked how it was possible for the weather conditions to be favorable yesterday yet planes still could not land, Ghukasyan responded: “The situation on the runway can be different; if there is wind or thunderstorms, those conditions are not suitable for landing, and consequently, departures are delayed for certain reasons.”

She reiterated that thunderstorms and wind were the only reasons for the delays. “If there had been other reasons, we would have informed you; it was purely the weather conditions that caused the problems. All airplanes have successfully landed afterward, and there were no issues,” she noted.

It should be recalled that the flights from Doha-Yerevan, Moscow-Yerevan, Dubai-Yerevan, Sochi-Yerevan, Riga-Yerevan, Vienna-Yerevan, and Rome-Yerevan were unable to land on time at Zvartnots International Airport last night. The Sochi-Yerevan flight even altered its route and successfully landed at Tbilisi Airport. Later, all flights successfully landed at Zvartnots.
