Brothers Will Be Able to Serve in the Same Military Unit After the 17th Month of Service
The government plans to clarify the conditions under which brothers can serve together in the same military unit. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Armenia, Arman Sargsyan, during a session of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defense and Security, where he presented a draft law to amend and supplement the 'Military Service and Status of Military Personnel' law.
'Under current legislation, when a second brother is drafted into the army, he has the opportunity to apply and serve in the same unit as his brother; however, if that period exceeds 17 months, the law does not allow the one drafted after the 17th month to serve with his brother. Here, we are extending the timeframe to allow both brothers to serve together in the same military unit. Essentially, this is an improvement for military personnel,' said Arman Sargsyan.
