Altercation in Building Courtyard Leads to Fatal Stabbing
On June 21, at 16:21, the Vedi Medical Center reported that a 62-year-old man had arrived for medical assistance with a stab wound to the left side of his chest, sustained in the courtyard of a building on Kasyan Street in the Vedi community. This information was provided by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
On the same day, around 15:55, two neighbors had an argument in the building's courtyard regarding personal matters. During the altercation, a 71-year-old man stabbed the 62-year-old neighbor in the abdomen, causing two penetrating stab wounds and severe internal bleeding.
The victim underwent surgery at the medical center; however, shortly thereafter, he did not regain consciousness and passed away.
The 71-year-old man has been charged under Article 166, Part 2, Points 6 and 15 of the RA Criminal Code, which addresses causing grievous bodily harm by means of a weapon or an object adapted for inflicting bodily harm, resulting in unintentional death. A motion has been filed with the court to apply pre-trial detention as a measure of restraint, which has been granted.
