Hungary Suspends €6.5 Billion Aid to Ukraine, Says Foreign Ministry
Hungary has suspended the allocation of €6.5 billion to Ukraine from the European Peace Facility until discrimination against Hungarian business companies in Ukraine is addressed. This was stated by Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, during a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.
“Today I made it clear that as long as the Ukrainian authorities do not stop the discriminatory treatment against Hungarian companies, there can be no talk of allocating €6.5 billion,” Szijjártó said in an interview with Hungarian journalists.
According to him, attempts to prosecute the largest Hungarian pharmaceutical company, Gedeon Richter, continue in Ukraine simply because the company operates in Russia. The minister noted that the Ukrainians want to strip Gedeon Richter of its licenses and block its access to the Ukrainian market.
