Investigative Committee on the Assault of Two Individuals in Komitas
The spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, Gor Abrahamyan, stated on his Facebook page: “The post made by lawyer Roman Yeritsyan regarding the inaction of investigators in the case of bodily injuries inflicted on two individuals on Komitas Street is completely disconnected from reality and is highly manipulative, posing serious dangers in terms of public coexistence.
Following the incident, a criminal case was initiated on the same day under Article 166, Part 2, Point 6 of the RA Criminal Code. An examination of the crime scene was conducted, and the two individuals who were transported to a medical facility with injuries have been recognized as victims. The investigators acted so promptly that they immediately visited the medical center to question them. One of the victims was interrogated, while the other was not interrogated due to their health condition.
Forensic examinations have been appointed. A request has been made to acquire the content of surveillance devices located in the area, and law enforcement has been instructed to identify the perpetrator and present them to the prosecutorial body, as well as clarify other circumstances relevant to the investigation. In other words, all urgent actions have been carried out, and they continue to this day. In this sense, the claims about the investigators not conducting actions due to a wedding are unfounded, fabricated, and trivial, and drawing conclusions based on combining them with other realities or proceedings is nothing more than a simple-minded and emotional manipulation.
Moreover, the fact that the lawyer directly links the use of violence against the mentioned individuals with their being from Artsakh, in the absence of any factual data supporting this claim up to this point, is merely an artificial creation of the illusion of discrimination against residents from Artsakh, thus generating societal division. What to name this, I leave to each individual’s moral perception.”
