VIDEO: Investigator Deceives to Enter Artsakh Representation; Lawyer Details Incident

Mariam Z.

During a conversation with reporters today, June 21, outside the Artsakh representation, the lawyer of Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan, Roman Yeritsyan, stated that they were neither shown a decision to confiscate the car serving the president of Artsakh, nor a decision to evacuate the vehicle using technical means.

Shortly before, masked special forces broke the gates of the Artsakh representation and took the president's service vehicle with a tow truck.

"They did not present any court decision, nor did they justify the use of force in any way, nor did they ask for permission from us to invade the Artsakh representation. The investigator, having presented himself at the Artsakh representation, was invited inside by the person who was here, given the circumstance that the investigator was present, but he did not clarify in any way that they were going to use force, breaking down the gates to seize the president’s service vehicle. The investigator entered the Artsakh representation under false pretenses and, knowing that the security staff here did not have the authority to open the gate and that he did not have the technical means to open it, immediately called for the police special forces, who broke the gates and took the vehicle away with a tow truck," the lawyer said.

He pointed out that they were not even informed about the criminal case under which the vehicle was being taken or how the vehicle was related to that case.

"All of this must be publicized so that everyone knows what kind of treatment the people of Artsakh are subjected to," Yeritsyan stated, noting that the incident confirms the statements of Arman Tatoyan and Gegham Stepanyan about direct pressures being exerted on the people of Artsakh.

He stated that in the context of recent events, he has no expectations from the judicial system, but that does not mean that actions will not be taken, and legal disputes are inevitable.

It is worth reminding that on June 7, patrol officers attempted to break down the gates of the Artsakh representation in order to seize the vehicle serving Samvel Shahramanyan. This was reported by Shahramanyan’s lawyer.

"They are trying to seize the vehicle near the Artsakh representation without a court order. The investigator, encountering obstacles, left and went to an unknown location; at this point, the vehicle has not yet been confiscated, but the patrol service staff have arrived. According to information we have received, police forces are also expected to arrive soon," said the lawyer.

Earlier, it was reported that representatives of the Central Division of the Investigative Committee were near the Artsakh representation in Armenia, having called in special evacuation services to remove the vehicle serving Samvel Shahramanyan.
