Extreme Heat Grips the U.S.: Record High Temperatures Recorded
Julya
Extreme heat has struck several regions across the United States, from the Midwest to New England. This is reported by VOA. Millions are observing Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people, while suffering from the heat, including in northern Maine, where such weather is rare for this time of year.
In the town of Caribou, Maine, just 10 miles from the Canadian border, a record high temperature of 39.4 degrees was registered, reflecting the heat index that combines temperature and humidity. The National Weather Service has issued heat advisories for the region, stating that it is hotter in Caribou (34.4 degrees) than in Miami (31.6 degrees).
