Albanian National Team Player Insults Macedonians Over National Identity During Euro 2024

Following the Euro 2024 match between Albania and Croatia, Mirlind Daku, a player from the Kazan "Rubin" and the Albanian national team, made inappropriate remarks about Macedonians in front of the fan tribune, as reported by Sport1.

The Football Federation of North Macedonia has demanded a public apology from Daku and requested the European football associations' union (UEFA) to conduct an official investigation into the incident.

The Albania-Croatia match ended in a 2:2 draw. In the first half of the game, Kazim Leci advanced Albania. Andrey Kramaric netted a goal for Croatia, while Albanian Klaus Gyasula scored an own goal. In the second half, two goals were scored by the Albanians. In the dying moments of the match, Klaus Gyasula restored parity.
