Why should we accept the opposition's message, for what reason? This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonian during a conversation with reporters in the parliament today, June 17. According to him, the citizens of Armenia trust the government and the Prime Minister. “We have neither reason to discuss this kind of question, nor have we ever had any. Both the candidate from the Civic Contract party and the composition of the government have support from their people. This means we are not engaged in formalities.”

“They made another 'Vazgen Manukyan 2'. Instead of him, they brought in Bagrat Galstanyan. Why should we do the same? The people remain the same, their demands remain the same, and the number of their supporters is also the same,” said the Speaker of the National Assembly.

When a journalist noted that the problems in the country have also remained the same, Simonian replied, “Of course, they say a lot of good things, saying that we are the ones responding. This is determined by the people of Armenia.”

To the question of why the opposition is delivering a message rather than initiating a no-confidence process, Simonian stated, “It’s a message because they themselves realize that they are neither capable in terms of public support nor in terms of their internal activities to expect more. Why should we engage in time-wasting and serve the opposition's fake agenda, which tries to justify their presence here?”
