VIDEO: Levon Kocharyan Discusses the Probability of Resigning Parliamentary Mandates

Mariam Z.

Representatives of the ruling party are manipulating various issues through their fake accounts, considering that I have not actively participated in protests due to my physical presence. This was stated today, June 17, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly by Levon Kocharyan, a member of the 'Armenia' parliamentary group.

“These people have compromised the future of 5000 children, led the country to defeat, destroyed Artsakh, and, in general, there has been no accountability. But the time for accountability will come,” said Levon Kocharyan, referring to the recent altercation involving Seyran Ohanyan in the National Assembly.

In response to a journalist's question about why opposition representatives do not resign their mandates but continue to be part of such incidents, the MP replied, “I know there is such a viewpoint, and our members have expressed their positions on this. However, we must understand that any step should not be purposeless. If it is purely about my and my colleagues' personal desires, of course, the easiest thing would be to resign and distance ourselves from the trouble, but what political issue would that resolve?”
