VIDEO: A 19-Year-Old Man Murdered in Central Yerevan. The Reason is Known, According to Police
On June 10, at 01:25, a citizen called the police operational management center to report that a bloody young man was lying on the ground on Mashtots Avenue. The police have confirmed this information.
An operational group was dispatched from the Central Police Department, and patrol officers were notified. It became clear that moments before the call, three young men had been arguing, exchanging insults, and during the altercation, one of them attacked the other two with a knife.
An ambulance team transported the bloodied young man, diagnosed with a "penetrating chest wound," to Yerevan's First University Hospital. The 19-year-old, registered in the village of Tsaghkunk in the Armavir region, was in critical condition.
Another ambulance team transported a 24-year-old man from the town of Gavarr, also suffering from stab wounds, to the Erebuni Medical Center. The third participant in the argument was absent.
A criminal case was initiated in the second investigative department of the Central and Norq Marash administrative districts. While investigators were working to identify the assailant, at 2:50 AM, the hospital reported that the 19-year-old had died without regaining consciousness.
It soon became known that the third participant in the incident was a 24-year-old man registered in the city of Goris. According to preliminary data, the argument among the young men arose during a wine festival when one of them scolded the other for using loud profanity. Although the situation had been defused at that moment, when they met again later on Mashtots Avenue, the argument ignited once more, escalating into a particularly serious crime.
As a result of explanatory work by criminal detectives, the assailant voluntarily surrendered to the police department on June 12 and was taken to the investigative department, where he confessed. The Yerevan court of general jurisdiction has opted for pre-trial detention for him. The circumstances of the case are still under investigation.
