UEFA President’s Message Ahead of Euro 2024 Kickoff
UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has sent a message ahead of the kickoff of the 2024 UEFA European Championship, which will take place in Germany from June 14 to July 14, as reported by Armsport.
“Euro 2024 is finally here, and it is impossible not to feel the excitement that comes with such a spectacular football celebration. Since its inception in 1960, the European Championship has become one of the most captivating sporting events on the planet. This summer promises to be filled with thrills as 24 teams prepare for intense competition to make history and claim the coveted trophy.
Before it has even begun, Euro 2024 has sparked incredible interest worldwide. Last year, over 50 million ticket applications were submitted in just two sales windows, alongside a record number of 146,000 volunteer applications, showcasing the massive anticipation for this truly global event.
Germany is known for its excellent infrastructure, including modern stadiums. By ensuring a flawless and enjoyable experience for players, officials, and fans alike, it promises to be the ideal host nation for Euro 2024.
UEFA, the German Football Association (DFB), and federal and local authorities have united to organize an event that celebrates democracy, respect, tolerance, and human rights. We have taken significant steps to minimize the tournament's environmental impact and have established a climate fund for football development that aims to leave a lasting legacy.
I would like to thank all those involved, from our sponsors and partners to our suppliers, for their incredible support and unwavering dedication to our mission. Now, let us enjoy this magical football summer in the spirit of fair play and respect, and together create unforgettable memories,” said Čeferin, as quoted by the UEFA press service.
