Passengers Arriving from Yerevan Detained at Chisinau Airport
Passengers arriving from Yerevan were held for several hours at Chisinau Airport without explanation, said Ivan Panyan, a member of the Comrat City Council.
On Tuesday, Moldovan parliament member Marina Tauber reported that a group of participants returning from a congress of the Moldovan "Victory" alliance was detained for four hours at Chisinau Airport. On Wednesday, the leader of Gagauzia, Evghenia Gutsul, announced that her lawyer and more than 100 passengers returning from the Russian Federation had been detained at the airport for over six hours.
On Thursday, there was an attempt to detain parliament member Alexander Sukhodolski. "The guys are not allowed to leave the airport, they are being searched, their personal belongings are checked, and their money is counted. The guys have been there since 3:00 AM. No one is explaining the reasons for the detentions. The regime is fighting against not only parliament members but also against the youth," Panyan wrote on his Facebook page.
He clarified that many passengers were released by 8:00 AM after "long hours of abuses." At the same time, Panyan claims that several people still remain at the airport.
