VIDEO: Assaulting the National Assembly is a Crime - Armen Khachatryan

Specifically, I am not afraid. I cannot imagine that, with all legal, democratic, and institutional frameworks in place and fully secured, there would be an attempt to assault the assembly, or if there were, that it would succeed. This was stated by Armen Khachatryan, a deputy from the 'Civil Contract' faction, during a briefing with journalists today, June 12, when asked whether he fears an assault on the National Assembly.

'Assaulting the National Assembly is a crime. Different types of crimes occur every day, and we have relevant units to combat them. It is the same question as asking if you are sure there will be no theft, or armed robbery, or, as Garnik Danielyan says, child abuse. There are always risks of crimes; I have no concerns. It will be both prevented and those who violate the laws will be held accountable,’ said Khachatryan.

In response to the assertion about what the authorities would do if a critical mass were to gather outside, Khachatryan replied, 'I believe they have held protests, and as much as they could, they have engaged people in them. Everything is normal if these are peaceful and do not violate legal requirements, regardless of how many people gather, it is normal in a democratic country.'
