The 2nd Phase of Russia and Belarus Nuclear Forces Exercises Has Begun

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has announced that Russian and Belarusian military personnel have begun preparations for joint training in the combat use of non-strategic nuclear weapons. The second phase of the exercises is aimed at maintaining the readiness of personnel and equipment in the event of the use of tactical nuclear weapons, reports kommersant.ru.

“The goal of the exercises is to maintain the combat readiness of the personnel and equipment of units for the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons of Russia and Belarus, in order to unconditionally ensure the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Union State,” states a message from the military department.

As explained by the Russian Ministry of Defense, in the first phase of the exercises, the military conducted the application of the Iskander systems and their covert movement to missile launch areas.
