‘Macron and Scholz Are Clinging to Power with Their Last Strengths,’ Volodin
Vyacheslav Volodin has summarized the results of the European Parliament elections. The Speaker of the State Duma drew attention to the fact that voter turnout in France was 52.5%, the highest participation rate in European elections since 1994. However, Macron's party received only half the votes (15.2%) compared to Marine Le Pen's party (32%). Volodin added that this reflects the ‘collapse of Macron's policies.’
As for Germany, the election results were the worst in history for Scholz's party. ‘The Social Democrats gathered around 14%, trailing not only the Christian Democrats (30%) but also the eurosceptics from the Alternative for Germany party (16%).’ Nevertheless, Macron and Scholz are ‘clinging to power with their last strengths.’
