Ukrainian Soldiers Begin Mass Consumption of Energy Drinks: New York Times
Ukrainian soldiers have begun to consume energy drinks on a large scale. Energy drinks are essential at the front lines, where troops may go long periods without sleep or food. Cans of energy drinks can be found in trenches and tanks, reports the New York Times.
A Ukrainian soldier, identified as "Bacha," told the media that one of his comrades, who suffered from heart disease, died after consuming 10 energy drinks a day. He was found in a restroom with an energy drink in his hand.
The New York Times states that since the onset of military operations, the demand for energy drinks in Ukraine has increased by 50 percent. At the end of March, Ukrainian media reported that gambling among soldiers had become an epidemic. Now, a new "epidemic" has emerged among the armed forces of Ukraine, as they are consuming energy drinks in large quantities.
