Belgian Politician Wears 'Wrong Glasses' During European Parliament Elections, Confuses Candidates
Elio di Rupo, the candidate from the Francophone Socialist Party, has confused candidates while voting in the ongoing elections in Belgium, stating that he wore the "wrong glasses," according to the European publication Politico.
He was forced to leave the voting booth to request a new ballot and explain that he had made a mistake due to wearing the "wrong glasses" and that there were many candidates to choose from.
After this incident, the politician tore up the voting paper to keep his voting results confidential.
Belgium is holding simultaneous elections for the European Parliament, offering 22 candidates for deputies, alongside federal and regional elections. Forming a government based on the election results may be challenging, as it took more than a year after the previous elections in 2019 to establish a ruling coalition.
