We Do Not Rule Out That the Aim Is to Implement a New ‘Maidan’: Mikhail Galuzin
The West is attempting to implement a new ‘Maidan’ scenario in Georgia by October, aiming to create a new flashpoint of tension near the borders of the Russian Federation. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin in an interview with TASS.
“We see the attempts of Western countries to escalate the situation in Georgia in the context of the parliamentary elections scheduled for October. We do not rule out that the aim is to conduct a new ‘Maidan’ with the expectation of creating yet another hotbed of tension near Russia's borders,” he said.
According to him, the US and EU countries are exerting pressure on sovereign nations. Galuzin also pointed out the involvement of the foreign ministers of Lithuania, Estonia, and Iceland in street protests held in Tbilisi in mid-May. “This is hard to characterize as anything other than an overt interference in the internal affairs of an independent state. All of this is an alarming example of neo-colonial tactics aimed at imposing their will on countries whose sovereignty they seek to undermine,” Galuzin noted.
