37 Candidates Registered for Presidential Elections in Iran
As of four days into the registration period, the number of officially registered candidates for Iran's early presidential elections has reached 37. This was announced by Mohsen Islamy, a representative of the country’s electoral headquarters.
“In total, 37 individuals have registered to participate in the presidential elections; tomorrow, June 3, is the final day for registration,” he stated during a press conference broadcast by IRIB.
The official clarified that out of the 37 candidates, 20 submitted their documents to the electoral headquarters on June 2. Among them is former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, noted for his strong criticism of the West and the rapid development of Iran's nuclear program.
