VIDEO: Serzh Sargsyan Supports Bagrat Srabazian for Prime Minister

“Not only I, but also our party and all our supporters are backing the candidate put forward by Bagrat Srabazian. He has stated that he is the candidate, so we support him.” This was stated today, May 31, by the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, during a conversation with reporters in front of the court in Nor Nork.

In response to the remark that there is a constitutional barrier since Bagrat Srabazian is a dual citizen, and dual citizens cannot run for the position of Prime Minister, Sargsyan replied: “There is a constitutional solution, and the Constitution allows for changing the clause that prohibits dual citizens from holding high positions in Armenia with a 2/3 majority. That is a solution; it is a bit more difficult than simply expressing a lack of confidence, but it is still a way out.”
