Serzh Sargsyan on Canceling Border Demarcation and Chief of Staff
The victory of the movement is street pressure, there is no other formula. This was stated today, on May 31, by Armenia's third president Serzh Sargsyan during a conversation with journalists in front of the court in Nor Nork.
"I see that Bishop Bagrat is quite resolute," he said.
When asked whether the new authorities could challenge the already conducted border demarcation process after the regime change, for example by removing the border posts, Serzh Sargsyan replied, "It would be extremely difficult to do that, but there are solutions to that as well. Let's not talk about those solutions, but I'm almost 100 percent sure that yes, the new authorities will be able to bring the issue from an illegal path into a legal framework. Of course, through peaceful means. What do we have now that we should think about war?"
In response to the question of why Nikol Pashinyan is not doing that, he responded, "Because he is a capitulator. He raised his hands, surrendered, and the other side is demanding. He says, 'Give me, or I will do this or that.'"
Regarding questions from journalists about evaluating the work of the Chief of Staff, Sargsyan stated, "The Chief of General Staff of the RA Armed Forces did not hold a significant position during my time as Minister of Defense and Supreme Commander."
"What can I say about him now?" was Sargsyan's response.
