The Largest Pharmacists' Protest in the Last 10 Years: Most Pharmacies Closed in France

In France, 75% to 90% of pharmacies are closed on Thursday due to a nationwide strike by pharmacists. This has been reported by Franceinfo.

A warning of the strike was sent to the authorities by two sector unions: the Federation of Pharmacists (FSPF) and the National Union of Pharmacists (USPO). According to their data, between 15,000 and 18,000 of France's 20,500 pharmacies will close on May 30.

It is noted that pharmacies on night shifts will remain open, and the protest will only affect daytime hours.

As the radio station points out, this is the largest protest by pharmacists in the last decade. They are demanding a government program to combat the drug shortage and higher salaries.

Pharmacists condemn the extremely low support from the state, as only €5,500 is allocated for each pharmacy for the years 2023-2027, while sector experts are demanding almost €20,000 per pharmacy.
