The government of Slovenia approved a proposal to recognize the state of Palestine on Thursday and requested the parliament to do the same. Prime Minister Robert Golob stated that his government has submitted the recognition proposal to parliament, which is likely to convene next week.
The proposal requires parliamentary approval to take effect. Slovenia's government decision came just two days after Spain, Norway, and Ireland recognized the state of Palestine, a move that was condemned by Israel.
