Export of Used Catalytic Converter Waste from Armenia Temporarily Banned
The export of ceramic waste from used car catalytic converters from Armenia will be temporarily banned for another six months starting July 2. This decision was made during today's meeting of the Armenian government.
The justification for the decision states, "The adoption of the decision project is conditioned by the increase of the level of environmental protection in Armenia, particularly in terms of reducing the uncontrolled emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere during the operation of vehicles without neutralization systems, as well as the necessity to prevent the illegal circulation of catalytic converters mounted on vehicles."
It is noteworthy that the first temporary export ban was established on December 15, 2022. The previous export ban was set until July 1, 2024, inclusive.
