What Article Initiated Proceedings in the Case of Attempting to Install a Listening Device on Archbishop Bagrat?

The legal proceedings against Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, leader of the "Tavush for the Homeland" movement, were initiated due to the attempted installation of a listening device, aimed at causing psychological distress to the perpetrator. This information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia.

It was reported that an attempt was made to drill through the ceiling of the first floor in order to wiretap the hotel room of Archbishop Bagrat. Later, police arrived at the Archbishop's room, where they escorted a woman, identified as Elen Aghasyan. She had previously worked at the Ministry of Defense, and old photographs of her in uniform circulated on social media. It was later confirmed that Elen Aghasyan is no longer employed in the defense structure.

The Archbishop stated that he knows Elen well and has been close to her family.

"A report was received from a citizen regarding this incident, and criminal proceedings were initiated based on Article 194, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code (psychological influence)," the Prosecutor's Office stated.
