Tigran Avinyan Discusses the Process of Purchasing 18-Meter Buses
Yerevan will have new trolleybuses. Financial resources have been allocated for 15 trolleybuses, and the agreements have been validated. This was announced at the city hall's operational meeting. Additionally, funds have been allocated for 171 buses, which will also be in Yerevan within the planned timeline.
Mayor Tigran Avinyan also addressed the process of purchasing 18-meter buses. “Yerevan continues to modernize its bus and trolleybus fleet with its own financial resources. As much as it pains me to say, I cannot envision organizing the procurement of 18-meter buses with our international partners or the government on a tight schedule. Therefore, I suggest that we plan the purchase of 18-meter buses starting next year, even if phased, in the Yerevan budget,” he stated.
The mayor has instructed to commence the preparation of the technical specifications. “As I understand, we are not progressing with the buses, and the 18-meter ones should also be purchased through the Yerevan budget.” He mentioned that reforms in public transportation need to be completed, and for that, another 250 18-meter buses are required. “We will not deviate from this path in any way. No matter what, we need to organize the work, even if phased and with some difficulties, we must implement this,” he emphasized, noting that this issue is a priority for Yerevan.
