Bishop Bagrat maintains his episcopal rank. The bishop stated that people can continue to refer to him as a holy father. When a journalist asked if it seemed that he was combining spiritual service and politics, the bishop emphasized that the struggle is not political, but national and liberational.

“I am no longer in the Tavush Diocese, but I continue to remain an archbishop. I am not deposed; my title has not been revoked. I am not displaced,” he said.
