Georgian Prime Minister Accuses Country's President of Treason

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, has accused President Salome Zurabishvili of treason against the homeland. This was reported by TASS.

“The unity of the people and their elected authorities, along with meaningful actions, allowed us to maintain peace in the country over the past two years, despite existential threats and multifaceted betrayals, including that of the president. The recent history of Georgia and the processes occurring in the modern world have clearly shown us that sovereignty is the most effective guarantee of the country’s security,” Garibashvili stated during an event organized for Independence Day.

He emphasized that it is especially important for Georgia to defend its state independence. “Today, more than ever, we must cherish one another and overcome hatred, as only love can build what has been destroyed by enmity,” he noted.

In turn, Zurabishvili, speaking in front of soldiers and representatives of the Georgian leadership, criticized the actions of the country’s authorities. She reiterated that the parliamentary elections scheduled for October will determine the country's course – whether it will tilt towards Europe or Russia.
