Video: Individual Who Stormed Bank with Grenade Arrested, Threatened to Blow Up Bank
On May 24th, at approximately 17:20, the Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received a report that an individual armed with a grenade had entered one of the banks on Hatis Street in Abovyan.
According to the police, operational groups from various divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Abovyan investigative department arrived at the scene immediately.
Preliminary information suggests that the man, armed with a grenade, posed a real threat to the lives of individuals present in the bank, demanding the return of his apartment that had been pledged to the bank, which had already been sold by the Enforcement Service.
The man threatened to blow up the bank. Following negotiations by police officers, he surrendered an F-1 type grenade and was subsequently arrested and taken to the Kotayk police department. The 50-year-old resident of Byureghavan and the documents he prepared were submitted to the investigative body.
A criminal case has been initiated against the man under part 1 of Article 308 and part 1 of Article 335 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia in the Abovyan investigative department. He has been transferred to a detention facility. Thanks to the measures taken by law enforcement, there were no casualties as a result of the incident.
