A Great Opportunity to Sign the Armenian-Azerbaijani Peace Agreement: Amirbekov

The upcoming COP29 conference in Baku is a great opportunity to sign the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace agreement. This was stated by Elchin Amirbekov, the special envoy of the President of Azerbaijan, in an interview with NE Global.

“We express cautious optimism and believe that negotiations on the text could be completed before the COP29 meeting. This will send a powerful signal to the outside world that one of the oldest, long-lasting, and tragic conflicts in the post-Soviet space in Europe is coming to an end. Therefore, I believe that both countries and the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan should be prepared for such a positive resolution,” he said.

It is worth noting that the next session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will take place in Baku next November.
