What is Allowed for the Civil Contract Members Now Will Be Prohibited for Everyone in the Future: 'Jamanak'
The newspaper 'Jamanak' reports that Yerevan City Council members will be prohibited from working as public servants going forward. The National Assembly adopted a bill on May 22 to amend and supplement the Law on Public Service.
The legislative amendment stipulates that council members will no longer be able to combine their position with public and public service positions.
It should be noted that these changes and restrictions will apply to the newly elected council members, but will not affect the current members of the council.
'Jamanak' had previously reported that several members of the Yerevan City Council from the 'Civil Contract' faction were engaged in activities incompatible with their council positions. The Anti-Corruption Commission of Armenia had given the ruling council members until February 15 to either resign from their council mandates or from their public positions.
On February 12, under the leadership of Nikol Pashinyan, a meeting of the Anti-Corruption Policy Council was held in the government, and participants concluded that council members of the ruling party should be 'forgiven.'
Those included: Vladimir Kirakosyan, a member of the ruling council who is also the head of the Forestry Committee, Natalia Sinyoryan, who was an assistant to the head of 'Civil Contract' faction in the National Assembly, Haik Konjoryan, but is now an expert in the 'Civil Contract' faction, Arman Barkhudaryan, the former head of the Malatya-Sebastia administrative district, who is an advisor to the deputy chairman of the National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan, Zina Chalikyan, who is a referent for the chairman of the National Assembly, and Levon Levonyan, who is also an assistant to the head of the National Assembly staff.
In short, what is currently allowed for the Civil Contract members will be prohibited for everyone in the future.
